I’m currently feeling:
Exhilarated.
My thoughts creating this feeling:
Had a really good day at the office yesterday. Powered through re-writing some standard operating procedures, correcting all the inconsistencies, grammar as well as the actual procedure. Then wrote a completely new one for a procedure that will be new to the team. This included step by step screen shots so you can see exactly what buttons to click on etc. These are the sorts of things I enjoy doing most.
I went out for a late lunchtime walk and as I left the office it was gloriously sunny. I hadn’t gone 10 yards before the heavers opened and a heavy downpour drenched me. I was close enough to have turned back but within a few seconds I was already soaked so I thought, what the heck, and carried on. The rain only lasted a few minutes even though it was very heavy, so I continued with my usual route as the sun came out again. This time, all the trees and flowers were shimmering in the rain drops. It all looked very pretty.
I had a night off JWW as per schedule, so read for a while until dinner was ready. Afterwards we met family and friends online for a virtual ringing session. We’d been practicing splicing 6 methods and last night it mostly worked very well, so time to move on to the next 6.
My desired feeling:
Supportive.
My thoughts creating this feeling:
I have encouraged someone to take on one of my volunteering roles from May. She’s fairly new to the whole thing and is worried she won’t know what to do, or do a good job of it. From what I’ve seen of her, she’s really well organised, easy to get along with and is willing to give it a go. That’s going to be enough for her to kick start it. I have no concerns about her ability, but have of course offered my full support until she finds her feet. She’ll have an easy time of it to start with as the major events will have been finished by the time she takes over. She’ll do fine I’m sure.
C is of out ringing this afternoon and won’t be home until gone 6pm then we’re out ringing again by 7.30pm. He always cooks dinner, being home all day, so suggested we got a quick takeaway instead. His go-to is always curry. To be honest, I didn’t really fancy it and I am trying to master my weight and fitness through eating either low cholesterol or Slimming World or Joe Wicks meal plans, to stay on track for my first check in. I didn’t want to undo all that effort in one meal. So, I offered to cook. I haven’t had to cook for a few years now, so may have lost the knack, but something quick and simple to cook and eat will be better for both of us than a takeaway curry.
This evening we have a district practice where the special methods have been chosen by the local band, so we’re going along to help them out.
I‘ll show up on purpose in my dress, body language and presentation by:
Basic at home and ringing friendly outfit. Jeans and black long sleeved top. Gibraltar bracelet, birthstones necklace, and diamond teardrop earrings. Casual and comfortable.
I will show up for myself by:
Relaxing day. JWW scheduled for after lunch. Fruit and granola for breakfast, light much then light dinner before ringing. Plenty of water throughout the day. Plenty of time for reading too. Fuelling body and mind.
I will upgrade my surroundings by:
I may wander nine town later and look for some pretty summer underwear. Mine all tends to be dark colours or white so some pastel, pretty colours will help the feminine aesthetic.
I will show up for my extra ordinary goal by:
Signing the nomination form for the person I’ve lined up to take over one of my roles. Another step towards relinquishing some roles in order to take on a new one come September.
Today I am:
Chillin!
Today I am grateful for:
People who are willing to step up and have a go at something, even when they’re not sure what they’re doing. Nobody knows exactly what to do when they start a new role and most of it is trial and error. There are usually people around to support and advise, mostly the right things, so you’re never on your own. The role of volunteers is hugely underestimated. If everyone charged for all the voluntary hours they put in, we would bankrupt many organisations.
